1. Can you briefly describe what you do as a backend developer?
As a backend developer, I work on developing new features that are defined during monthly sprints in collaboration with clients (SCRUM methodology). I'm also focused on daily support, which involves resolving tasks reported on JIRA by business users, including:
- testing features in collaboration with business users and holding workshops with them to familiarize them with developed features
- frontend development of the system
- working on integration between individual systems
- optimizing existing packages, procedures, and functions in the database
2. What was your start at KnowIT like?
I came to work at KnowIT after finishing university. Before KnowIT, I worked at a large IT corporation as a business analyst. After 10 months there, I concluded that I would rather focus more on programming itself. My initial period at KnowIT was mostly spent learning the technologies that would become my core business in the coming period, as well as getting to know the business and programming logic of the system we work on. I also attended daily workshops with a mentor who was there for every question I had.
3. What do you like and dislike about your job?
What I like most about my job is that every day I encounter new requirements and needs, which actually creates work that is not monotonous and repetitive, but requires a lot of logical thinking, which for me personally is a big benefit. Also, the flexibility in work is a huge plus — I can work from any suitable place and am not tied to a specific location.
4. Can you describe the work atmosphere?
The work atmosphere is really excellent. We all try to help each other, and at any moment I can turn to colleagues for help if I encounter any difficulty. Teamwork is something we're involved in daily, and when you have great colleagues, that can only be a benefit. When we're in the office, we always go to lunch together and often socialize for drinks after work, which greatly contributes to a quality work atmosphere.
5. If you were looking for a job now, would you join KnowIT?
Definitely, yes. Mainly because you have the opportunity to work on complex projects where you can really learn a lot. Also, if you have the will and desire to change fields and technologies, you'll always get the opportunity to do so.
6. What are the things you've learned the most during your time at KnowIT?
I would highlight the technologies I work with daily. Above all, databases. Additionally, I also work in Java, where I actually had no prior experience. Along with the technical side, I've also enhanced certain soft skills, such as client communication, critical thinking, conducting various workshops, etc.
